After a series of health complications, Korean-Canadian adoptee Jenny Duffy learns she has a needle-thin metal fragment embedded in her skull.

Can this mysterious thread in her skull lead to the truth behind who put her up for adoption and why?

SYNOPSIS

After a series of 5 mysterious anaphylactic reactions, doctors discover a 7mm metal thread embedded in Jenny Duffy's head — an unknown object predating her Canadian life.

Forty-two years earlier, Jenny was flown to Canada at barely two years old. Her “orphan papers” state she was found abandoned on the street corner. No birth-family information. Family records lost. She would be adopted by Steve and Gail Duffy and given a wonderful life in the suburbs of White Rock, BC.

But in the spring 2025, South Korea's Truth and Reconciliation Commission confirmed what adoptees like Jenny always knew: the adoption system committed widespread human rights violations.

Falsified documents. Fabricated stories. Stolen babies.

The discovery of the mysterious object in Jenny’s head catalyzes her search for her birth parents. Doctors believe the metal object in Jenny’s head originates from her infancy - her time in Korea. What is this metal object, and where did it come from?

The metal thread is a sliver of evidence driving her back to Seoul, seeking the truth behind her adoption and to learn who her birth parents are.
